wonderful bicycles

cyclesThere are many popular forms of bicycle used in today’s society which vary slightly depending on the intended purpose of the bike.  Utility bicycles are designed for the purpose of commuting and shopping. They have middle or heavy weight frames and tires allowing ease of use. Mountain bikes are designed to tackle off road cycling such as cross country. They feature durable frames, many varying gears and strong suspension to support the rider from sudden jolts. Racing bicycles have a very lightweight frame and are designed for speed. Minimal accessories ensure low weight and dropped handlebars allow for a more aerodynamic riding position for the rider.  BMX bikes gained in popularity in the 1970’s and they are designed to allow the rider to perform stunts and tricks through their lightweight and strong design. Other popular choices include touring bicycles, messenger bikes and ‘cruiser bicycles’.

Although the majority of bicycles remain faithful to the standard design, there are many different types of cycle catagorised by number of riders, general construction, gearing and by means of propulsion. Less commonly seen bicycles are ones such as the tandem, lowriders, tall bikes, fixed gear, folding models and recumbents.
